Book design, magazine design and publication design for publishers and brands
For over two decades, I have designed for publishers, brands and organisations worldwide. My credits include Harper Collins, with the New York Times bestselling U2 by U2.
Good editorial design is not about decoration. It is about control. The way a page breathes, the way type moves a reader through a story, the way an image earns its space rather than filling it. Every decision, from the grid to the gutter, from the cover to the final spread, either serves the content or undermines it. There is no neutral ground.
I have spent two decades working across every discipline that falls under the editorial umbrella. Books, magazines, annual reports, brand books and corporate publications. Each one a different challenge, each one demanding the same level of care and precision.
A book cover is a promise to the reader. It has to stop them in their tracks, communicate genre and tone in an instant and make the decision to pick it up feel inevitable. The interior has to deliver on that promise, page after page, without ever getting in the way of the words.
A magazine has its own rhythm. It has to reward the reader who dips in and out as much as the one who reads cover to cover. Every spread is a fresh decision about hierarchy, pace and visual impact.
An annual report or brand book is a different discipline again. Here the design has to carry authority and clarity, making complex information feel considered and accessible without ever sacrificing the visual quality a brand demands.
What I design for editorial:
Book cover design and interior layout
Magazine design and art direction
Annual report design
Brand books and corporate publications
Publication design for print and digital
Whether the brief comes from a major publisher, a brand or an organisation, the standard is the same. Design that serves the content, respects the reader and reflects the quality of the work it represents.
